KP

Khun Pattaravut

Bangkok · attended Saving with Intention

"I came in thinking I already knew what I needed to about savings. The workbook reflection on sinking funds made me realise I had lumped several things together that probably needed separate treatment. The facilitator was straightforward and not trying to sell anything — which was a relief."

Supansa T.

Sukhumvit · attended Fund Factsheets workshop

"I had three funds in my provident account that I had never looked at closely. Going through them line by line in the group — anonymously — was actually very useful. I wish there had been a bit more time on the expense ratio section, but the glossary has been something I have returned to more than once since the day."

Wanchai N.

Silom · attended The Patience Programme

"Three months is actually the right length for this kind of material. I came back to each session having thought about what we covered the time before. The personal statement I wrote at the end was something I was genuinely able to show my advisor — it made that conversation much more focused than any I had had before."

Ratana L.

Sathorn · attended Saving with Intention

"The evenings worked well for me — I do not have weekends free easily. What I appreciated most was that nobody in the room was trying to steer the conversation toward any product. The session on revisiting saving habits after income changes was the most relevant thing I have done for my own finances in years."

Mark C.

Ploenchit · attended Fund Factsheets workshop

"I am an expat who has lived in Bangkok for eleven years and had Thai mutual funds I could barely read. The workshop was not too basic — it assumed some context, which I had, and built from there. The anonymous factsheet review was the highlight. Very useful day."

Nanthida S.

Thonglor · attended The Patience Programme

"I work in finance and still found the programme valuable — mainly because it gave me structured space to think about my own situation rather than advising others. The historical data sessions were genuinely sobering in a useful way. I also appreciated that the group was small enough for real conversation."

Saving with Intention · April 2025

Where she started

A 47-year-old civil servant in Bangkok had been saving consistently for years but found the money all sitting in one general savings account. She was unsure whether she had enough set aside for emergencies, was not sure what to do with a small gold holding inherited from her mother, and had never structured her saving around specific goals.

During the programme

Over four sessions she worked through the emergency reserve framework, separated her general savings into three distinct pools in her workbook, and used the gold and deposits session to think clearly about the role of her inherited holding. The reflection prompts helped her write out — for the first time — what her specific savings goals were and over what timeframes.

Three months later

She separated her savings into three accounts, established a six-month emergency reserve, and made a decision about the gold holding she felt settled with. In her own words: "I did not need more money — I needed more clarity about what I already had."

The Patience Programme · February 2025

Where he started

A 53-year-old business owner had accumulated a portfolio across several institutions over twenty years, largely through bank promotions and his company provident fund. He had never systematically thought about what horizon he was investing to, and found himself making anxious decisions whenever markets fell sharply.

During the programme

The six sessions helped him look at historical market data with more perspective and articulate — concretely, in writing — what a ten-year horizon actually meant for his household. The fluctuation sessions were the most valuable: seeing regional recovery data in context shifted how he thought about short-term movements.

After the programme

He used his written personal statement in a meeting with his bank advisor, which he described as "the first time I went in knowing what I wanted to discuss." He reduced the number of funds he held to those he understood and could articulate a purpose for.

Fund Factsheets Workshop · March 2025

Where she started

A 44-year-old researcher had recently inherited a small portfolio of Thai mutual funds. She could read English fluently but found fund factsheets confusing and jargon-heavy. She felt she needed to understand what she had before making any decisions — but had no context for reading the documents herself.

During the workshop

She brought three factsheets from the inherited portfolio, which were reviewed anonymously in the group. By working through them line by line — expense ratios, allocation tables, performance periods — she was able to understand what she actually owned by the end of the day. The glossary was annotated heavily by lunchtime.

After the workshop

"I went from not being able to read those documents to feeling like I could make an informed choice about them. I still consulted an advisor — but I went in understanding what questions to ask." She later enrolled in the Patience Programme.
